Pudukottai: A display of camaraderie between former AIADMK minister C Vijaya Baskar and incumbent TVK labour minister J Mohamed Farvaz was witnessed on Saturday, as the two were seen pulling the chariot together during the Viralimalai Subramaniya Swamy Temple car festival. This event comes amid speculation over a possible switch by Vijaya Baskar to the TVK party.
Political Speculation Intensifies
While the AIADMK’s Viralimalai MLA is yet to decide whether to remain in the party or resign and join TVK, the former minister and the current minister appeared to share a cordial rapport. The sight of them jointly participating in the religious ceremony has fueled rumors about a potential political realignment.
Consultative Meeting with Loyalists
Vijaya Baskar recently held a consultative meeting with his loyalists at his residence in Illupur, Pudukkottai district, to discuss his next course of action. The meeting aimed to gauge the support of his followers and deliberate on the possible move to TVK.
Thanksgiving Tour and Future Plans
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Vijaya Baskar said he had been attending marriage functions as it was the muhurtham season. He added that he had begun a thanksgiving tour from Friday to express gratitude to the people. “At the end of it, I will speak to the press. People’s decision is my decision,” he told reporters in Trichy after coming back from Chennai on Friday morning. This statement has left many political observers anticipating a formal announcement regarding his party affiliation.
The Viralimalai Subramaniya Swamy Temple car festival is a significant local event, and the joint participation of leaders from rival parties underscores the fluid nature of political alliances in the region.
