Ajit Pawar's Relentless Campaign Push for Maharashtra Rural Elections
Wednesday was poised to be another demanding day for Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar. After landing at the Baramati airstrip around 9 am, he was scheduled to address four campaign rallies for the upcoming zilla parishad and panchayat samiti elections. The first rally was set for 10 am in Nirwagaj, with the day's final event planned in Supa village around 5:30 pm.
Strategic Campaign Launch and Intensive Schedule
Ajit Pawar officially launched his party's campaign for the February 5 polls on January 24. The following day, he engaged with directors and office bearers of various cooperative societies in Baramati. After returning to Mumbai on Tuesday for crucial administrative meetings, he planned to dedicate the next several days exclusively to Baramati and the surrounding rural districts.
According to an NCP worker, Pawar has been exceptionally active over the past three months, touring nearly all districts for municipal council and corporation elections. He has now formulated an extensive campaign strategy specifically for the zilla parishad polls. "He not only focused on western Maharashtra, which is the NCP's traditional stronghold, but also conducted rallies in Nagpur, Amravati, Chandrapur, and Akola, where the party contested independently," the worker noted. His travel involved a combination of planes, helicopters, and road journeys to cover vast distances efficiently.
Post-Civic Poll Strategy and Grassroots Engagement
Vishwas Devkate, former Pune zilla parishad president and a close aide of Ajit Pawar, revealed that immediately after the civic poll results, the NCP chief organized a series of meetings with party workers and senior leaders. These sessions were aimed at developing a comprehensive roadmap for the rural elections. "He personally oversaw the selection of candidates, holding consultations across tehsils and distributing party tickets," Devkate emphasized.
This hands-on approach underscores Pawar's commitment to strengthening the party's presence at the grassroots level. His meticulous planning and direct involvement highlight the strategic importance of these rural polls for the NCP's political future in Maharashtra.
The relentless pace of campaigning reflects the high stakes involved in the zilla parishad and panchayat samiti elections. Ajit Pawar's efforts demonstrate a focused strategy to consolidate support across diverse regions, leveraging both traditional strongholds and newer territories where the party is building its influence.
