Samrat Choudhary, the Chief Minister of Bihar, unveiled a series of development projects for Kaimur district on Tuesday. These include a proposed airport between Sasaram and Bhabua, and a ropeway project at the historic Maa Mundeshwari Dham. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to boosting tourism and infrastructure in the region.
CM's Visit and Announcements
Samrat began his visit by offering prayers at Maa Mundeshwari Temple and inspecting a public assistance camp. Addressing a gathering near the Tourism Dharamshala, he stated that an airport would be developed between Sasaram and Bhabua. He noted that there is currently no airport between Varanasi and Gaya, and described the proposed facility as a major step towards improving connectivity and driving economic growth.
Responding to a demand raised by Chainpur MLA and minority welfare minister Zama Khan, Samrat announced that the foundation stone for the long-awaited Mundeshwari Dham Ropeway Project would be laid after the monsoon season. He also said the temple complex would be connected to a four-lane road network to improve access for pilgrims and tourists.
Tourism and Development Vision
Highlighting the district's potential, Samrat said Kaimur would be developed into a major tourism destination with national and international recognition. Recalling an earlier visit to the shrine with the then CM Nitish Kumar, he said the government remained committed to fulfilling its promise of transforming the district through sustained development.
Referring to the large turnout of women at the public meeting, Samrat credited welfare initiatives of the Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar administrations for enhancing public participation. He also reiterated the government's commitment to maintaining law and order and warned of strict action against those involved in crimes against women and other citizens.
Meeting with Cricketer Akash Deep
Later, Samrat travelled to Baddi village in Rohtas district's Shivsagar block to congratulate Indian fast bowler Akash Deep ahead of his marriage. He was welcomed by Akash's mother, Laduma Kunwar, and met family members at their residence. Several BJP functionaries, including Vikram Narayan Singh, Murari Gautam and Jawahar Prasad, were present during the visit. District magistrate Udita Singh and SP Raushan Kumar also attended.
Akash Deep is scheduled to marry in Varanasi on June 24 while the 'tilak' ceremony will be held at his native village on June 21. After spending about half an hour with the family, Samrat departed by helicopter.
