A BJP delegation led by state president B Y Vijayendra visited Karnataka's Bidadi on Thursday, urging the state government not to 'threaten' farmers over a proposed project. Vijayendra claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not given his consent to the project in question.
Delegation's Visit to Bidadi
The delegation, which included several party leaders, met with local farmers and listened to their grievances. Vijayendra stated that the government was pressuring farmers to give up their land, which he termed as 'unacceptable'. He demanded that the government immediately stop any form of intimidation.
PM Modi's Stand
Vijayendra asserted that Prime Minister Modi had not approved the project, contradicting claims by the state government. He said that the BJP would support the farmers in their fight for justice. The delegation also submitted a memorandum to the district administration, urging them to intervene.
The visit comes amid growing tensions between farmers and the government over land acquisition for the project. The BJP has accused the ruling party of trying to forcibly acquire land without proper compensation.
Local farmer leaders expressed gratitude to the BJP for their support. They said that they would continue to protest until the government withdraws its threat. The state government has not yet responded to the allegations.
