BJP Bolsters Ranks with BJD Defections in Odisha

State BJP president Manmohan Samal made a strong appeal for unity during a key party event in Bhubaneswar on Friday. He called upon all party workers to unite as one mind and one soul. This collective effort aims to strengthen the organization significantly. It also focuses on ensuring the success of both the state unit and the national party.

Major Political Shift in Jajpur

The event witnessed a notable political realignment. Jajpur zilla parishad chairperson Nalini Prava Jena officially joined the BJP. She was accompanied by vice-chairperson Ganeshwar Baral and former MP Rita Tarai. Their move marks a substantial gain for the BJP in the region.

At least sixteen members of the zilla parishad resigned from the BJD. They switched their allegiance to the BJP during the same program. This mass defection includes several prominent local leaders.

Key Leaders Who Switched Sides

  • Rasulpur block president Arun Kumar Raut
  • Dharmasala BJD politician Bishwabandana Jena
  • Jajpur youth BJD president Kshitish Nayak
  • Committee member Khirabadhi Tanaya Malik
  • Former committee member Geetanjali Pradhan
  • Dharmasala BJD youth organiser Santosh Tarai
  • Aditya Prasad Prusti
  • Dharmasala social media coordinator Chinmayee Behura

Several BJD members from the Chandabali constituency in Bhadrak district also joined the BJP. This expansion indicates a growing support base for the party across different areas.

Warm Welcome for New Members

Manmohan Samal personally welcomed all the new entrants. He presented each of them with BJP caps and scarves. This gesture symbolized their formal induction into the party fold. The event highlighted the BJP's active efforts to consolidate its position in Odisha ahead of future political challenges.
