BJP state general secretary Shravan Singh Bagdi delivered a sharp rebuke to the Congress party on Thursday. He addressed allegations concerning the addition and deletion of names in voter lists. Bagdi firmly stated that the Congress faced rejection from the people. Now, he claimed, the party resorts to making baseless statements on issues without merit.
Congress Politics Based on Lies and Deceit
Bagdi did not mince words in his criticism. He asserted that the current politics of the Congress party relies heavily on lies, deceit, and theatrical drama. The public comprehends this reality clearly. This understanding extends beyond Rajasthan to encompass the entire nation, according to the BJP leader.
Defending the Voter List Procedure
The BJP general secretary explained the established process for managing electoral rolls. There exists a prescribed procedure for adding or removing names. This procedure mandates the removal of names under specific circumstances.
- Names of deceased individuals are deleted.
- Persons listed in two different locations are removed.
- Non-residents have their names taken off the voter lists.
Bagdi highlighted the role of political parties in this process. All parties appoint Booth Level Agents, known as BLA 1 and BLA 2. These agents participate in the voter list management. The Election Commission of India holds the ultimate authority. It examines the forms submitted by these agents. The Commission then makes final decisions on all additions or deletions.
"Whether a form is incomplete, incorrect, or valid is decided solely by the Election Commission," Bagdi emphasized.
Alleging Congress Attachment to Illegal Migrants
Bagdi made a controversial allegation during his remarks. He claimed the Congress party possesses a deep attachment to Rohingyas, Bangladeshis, and other illegal migrants. The BJP leader suggested this attachment causes discomfort for Congress. This discomfort arises even when names are rightfully removed according to the rules.
Pointing to Irregularities in Jaipur
Referring specifically to Jaipur, Bagdi cited concerning examples. He mentioned several houses with relatively small areas. Surprisingly, these houses had between 200 to 300 names listed in the voter rolls. When objections are raised about such cases, the Election Commission investigates them. The examination follows the established rules and procedures.
"Why is the Congress upset over this?" Bagdi questioned pointedly.
Accusing Congress of Shifting Blame After Losses
The BJP leader expressed his surprise at the Congress party's behavior. He noted a pattern. Where the Congress wins elections, it remains largely silent. However, in constituencies where it faces defeat, the party immediately starts blaming external factors.
- Congress blames Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
- It criticizes the Election Commission of India.
- It points fingers at the BJP for its losses.
Internal Factionalism Within Congress
Bagdi leveled another serious allegation. He stated that in many instances, Congress workers themselves desire name deletions. This desire stems from internal factionalism within the party. After seeking these deletions, Congress workers then attempt to divert public attention. They achieve this by falsely blaming the BJP for the voter list changes.
Criticizing Rahul Gandhi's Statements
The BJP general secretary also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He accused Gandhi of making anti-national remarks. These remarks occur not only within India but also on foreign soil during his visits abroad. Bagdi asserted that questioning constitutional institutions has become a habit for Congress leaders. Making irresponsible statements is now commonplace in their political conduct, he concluded.
