Chandigarh Workers Rally Jan 15 for Job Security Demands

The Sanyukta Karamchari Morcha plans a major protest rally in Chandigarh. Workers will gather at Masjid Ground on January 15. They aim to push for several long-standing demands.

Key Demands of the Protest

Protesters want the government to regularize all temporary employees. This includes those with ten years of service. They also demand equal pay for equal work.

Labor Law and Job Security Issues

The morcha seeks repeal of new labor laws. They want reinstatement of outsourced employees dismissed from CTU. Regularization of contract and outsourced staff is another priority.

Other job-related demands include:

  • Daily wages for recurring jobs
  • Stopping retrenchment under rationalization
  • DC rates for MDM workers
  • Removal of ESMA from CTU and power department
  • Cancellation of termination orders for crèche employees

Additional Demands for Workers

The protestors have further requests. They want withdrawal of FIRs against CTU union leaders. Adjustment of transferred employees is also on their list.

Implementation of central rules and promotion posts for UT staff matters to them. Full implementation of the 7th Pay Commission with arrears is crucial.

They also demand:

  1. Increase in ESI and bonus limit to Rs 50,000
  2. CGHS medical facilities
  3. Jobs for dependants of deceased employees
