Minister's Emotional Appeal to Maoist Commander

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma has made a heartfelt appeal to Maoist commander Barse Deva, urging him to abandon violence and return to mainstream society. This appeal comes shortly after the encounter death of Madvi Hidma, another prominent Maoist leader from the same village.

The minister recently visited Puvarti village, the native home of both Maoist commanders, where he met with their families and mothers. During this emotional meeting, Sharma conveyed a clear message to Barse Deva through media channels.

Hidma's Fate Serves as Warning

"Hidma didn't pay heed to his mother's call for return, nor considered to shun violence and got killed," Minister Sharma stated, using the recent incident as a cautionary example. He emphasized that there's still time for Barse Deva to make a different choice.

The minister made specific assurances to encourage Deva's return: "We will assist you to rehabilitate and never call it a surrender. You don't have to worry about your safety, if you are in touch with anyone or even thinking of laying down arms, please do it at the earliest."

Family Appeals and Government Assurance

Sharma highlighted the emotional aspect of his message, noting that "Your family and mother also want you to give up violence and lead a normal life, at least listen to your mom's call." This personal touch underscores the government's approach combining emotional appeals with concrete security assurances.

Regarding Hidma's final days, the home minister revealed crucial information: "As per the last inputs, Hidma was in Telangana and had gone to Andhra Pradesh for some treatment as he was suffering from some ailments." This detail provides insight into the circumstances leading to the encounter.

The minister also disclosed operational specifics, stating "There were clear inputs about his presence and many others from battalion number 1, many of whom have also been arrested." In a significant revelation, he added that "Hidma got shot by a woman commando's bullets, am told," highlighting the role of female security personnel in the operation.

Barse Deva's Profile and Current Situation

Barse Deva, who hails from the same Puvarti village as the deceased Hidma, currently holds the position of Dandakaranya special zonal committee member and is considered to have been Hidma's closest aide. Official sources indicate that Deva was equally involved in all the ambushes that Hidma played a role into, making him a significant figure in the Maoist hierarchy.

The government's message to Barse Deva is clear and urgent - it's high time he chooses rehabilitation with grace. The assurance of respectful treatment and proper rehabilitation, coupled with the emotional appeal from family members, represents a comprehensive approach to bringing Maoist commanders back into mainstream society.
