Congress in Gaya Warns of Agitation Over Delayed Projects

Congress Leaders in Gaya Issue Ultimatum Over Delayed Development Work

Congress functionaries in Gaya district have issued a stern warning to authorities. They plan to launch a major agitation starting January 24. Their demands center around several development projects that remain incomplete despite official announcements.

Key Projects Remain Stalled for Years

In a strongly worded statement, prominent Congress leaders voiced their frustration. Vijay Kumar Mithu, Jagdish Yadav, Madan Singh, and Dina Nath led the charge. They highlighted multiple schemes announced with great fanfare that never materialized on the ground.

The most glaring example involves a state-of-the-art stadium project. This facility was supposed to rise in Bhusunda village on Gaya's southeastern outskirts. Officials first announced the project back in May 2018. Since that announcement, absolutely no progress has occurred.

Details of the Promised Stadium Complex

Official records from 2018 provide specific details about the planned sports facility. Then District Magistrate Abhishek Singh made the formal announcement on May 11. The state government had approved construction on a thirteen-acre plot in Bhusunda village.

The project carried an estimated cost of five crore rupees at the time. Plans called for a stadium measuring 217 meters in length and 176 meters in width. The complex would include facilities for multiple athletic disciplines:

  • Football field
  • High jump area
  • Long jump pit
  • Javelin throw sector
  • Shot put circle

Designs also promised a dedicated parking area stretching 230 meters in length. Congress leaders argue Gaya desperately needs this modern facility. They point to the current Harihar Subramanium stadium, which now stands in dilapidated condition.

Additional Infrastructure Issues Cited

The stadium represents just one of several stalled projects causing public concern. Congress functionaries highlighted another significant problem. A new bus stand constructed at Manpur in 2022 remains completely non-operational to this day.

Other pressing issues include alleged encroachment along the Salempur water channel. Furthermore, promised overbridges at railway crossings in Manpur and Bandhua have not been built. These infrastructure gaps create daily inconveniences for local residents.

The January 24 deadline now looms large. Congress leaders have made their position clear. They will not remain silent while development promises gather dust. Their planned agitation aims to force concrete action on these long-delayed projects.
