Congress MLA Pargat Singh on Friday criticized the Punjab government over the worsening power crisis, alleging that the state's electricity system had collapsed amid the intense summer heat. Accusing the government of failing to manage the situation, he warned that conditions could deteriorate further if immediate corrective measures were not taken.
Pending Complaints and Employee Strike
Pargat claimed that around 1.5 lakh complaints related to the power department were pending, while the control room staff went on strike. He questioned the government about when Punjab's residents would finally get relief from the ongoing power woes.
Demands for Immediate Action
The Congress MLA demanded the immediate resolution of all pending complaints, urgent talks with striking employees to end the impasse, and emergency measures to strengthen the power infrastructure. He emphasized that without swift action, the situation could worsen, leaving residents without adequate electricity during the peak summer months.
The criticism comes as Punjab faces severe heatwaves, leading to increased demand for electricity and exposing vulnerabilities in the power distribution system. The opposition has been vocal about the government's handling of the crisis, calling for transparent and efficient management.
