Congress MP Randhawa slams Punjab govt over drug census misuse

Chandigarh: Congress MP from Gurdaspur, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on Friday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab over the misuse of the 'drug census'. He alleged that crores of rupees were being wasted on the exercise, which had nothing to do with any genuine anti-drug campaign.

Political Survey Disguised as Anti-Drug Drive

'The entire exercise is nothing more than a political survey aimed at assessing the declining public support of the AAP and preparing strategies to retain power,' said Randhawa. He further stated that Punjab's teachers are being turned into a part of a political survey. By removing teachers from schools and classrooms and deploying them in this administrative exercise, the education system is being adversely affected, he added.

Misuse of Administrative Resources

The senior parliamentarian accused the government of misusing administrative resources and spending taxpayers' money for political interests. 'Teachers are meant to shape the future of Punjab's children, but instead they are being forced onto the streets to collect data for a government that has completely lost the trust of the people,' he said. Randhawa emphasized that this is an insult to both the education system and the teaching community.
