Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh has emphasized the urgent need to disarm people in possession of firearms across the state. He made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of the Tangkhul Naga community from Sinakeithei Village in Ukhrul district on Wednesday.
CM underscores security concerns
Singh highlighted that the proliferation of illegal weapons poses a significant threat to public safety and law and order in the region. He called for immediate action to collect all unauthorized firearms to prevent their misuse and ensure peace in the state.
The chief minister assured the delegation that the government is committed to addressing their concerns and will take necessary steps to maintain security. He also urged community leaders to cooperate with authorities in the disarmament process.
Community delegation's appeal
The Tangkhul Naga delegation raised issues related to safety and development in their area. They expressed support for the government's efforts to curb illegal arms and reaffirmed their commitment to peace.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by the state administration to reduce violence and restore normalcy in conflict-affected areas of Manipur.
