Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar Asserts Unanimous MLA Support Amid Leadership Speculation
In a significant political statement, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar declared on Tuesday that he enjoys the unwavering support of all 136 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in the state. This assertion directly counters claims from certain quarters that his backing is limited to only 80 MLAs, highlighting a potential rift in perceptions within the political landscape.

Shivakumar further emphasized that there is no ambiguity whatsoever regarding the leadership structure within the Karnataka state government. "There is no confusion. We, the CM and I, know what we discussed. We did not speak separately or in secret; I and Siddaramaiah, along with party leaders, spoke together. We are acting according to what we discussed," Shivakumar stated firmly to reporters.
He issued a stern warning against internal dissent, noting that statements from ministers or legislators—whether in his favor or against him—are detrimental to the party's cohesion. "Such statements won't do any good for the party," he added, referencing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's directive for all members to maintain silence on the matter to prevent further speculation.
Delhi Visit Focused on Election Strategy and Assam Review
Shivakumar was in Delhi to participate in crucial party meetings centered on upcoming electoral strategies, including a comprehensive review of the Assam assembly polls held at the Congress headquarters. Appointed as a senior observer for the Assam elections alongside former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, he confirmed the completion of his scheduled engagements.
"I am here in Delhi to attend the meeting on elections in Assam and other meetings. I finished my meetings in Indira Bhawan. If there is anything, I will apprise you," he informed the media, underscoring his commitment to keeping stakeholders updated on developments.
