IPS Officers from 1996-2013 Batches Promoted in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a significant set of promotion orders for Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, affecting personnel from batches spanning 1996 to 2013. The promotions, which are effective from January 1, 2026, cover elevations to various senior ranks including Director General of Police (DGP), Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), and Selection Grade. The orders encompass both in-situ promotions for officers in state postings and proforma promotions for those serving on central and inter-state deputation.

Senior Batch Promotions: 1996 and 2001

From the 1996 batch, Shankha Brata Bagchi, who currently holds the position of Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner, has been promoted to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP). According to the order, he will continue in his present posting on an in-situ basis. In a parallel move, Bhavana Saxena, an officer from the same batch who is presently on central deputation, has been granted a proforma promotion to the identical DGP rank.

For the 2001 batch, the government has accorded a proforma promotion to Vineet Brijlal, who is also serving on central deputation. He has been elevated to the Above Super Time Scale (Level 15) in the rank of Additional Director General of Police, effective from the same date.

Mid-Career Elevations: 2008 and 2012 Batches

The state administration has also notified promotions for officers from the 2008 batch to the Super Time Scale (Level 14) in the rank of Inspector General of Police. Officers Gopinath Jatti, S Senthil Kumar, and Dr. Shemushi have been promoted on an in-situ basis. Additionally, Gaja Rao Bhupal, who is on inter-state deputation to Telangana, and Grewal Navdeep Singh K S, currently on central deputation, have been granted proforma promotions to the same IGP rank. The government has directed that officers who have not yet completed the mandatory MCTP Phase-IV training must complete it within one year.

From the 2012 batch, Vikrant Patil has been promoted to the Super Time Scale (Level 13A) in the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police. He will continue in his present assignment following the promotion.

Promotions for the 2013 Batch Officers

Promotions have been cleared for several officers of the 2013 batch to the Selection Grade (Level 13). The list of promoted officers includes:
