Kannada Groups Urge Shift of Monsoon Session from Belagavi

Belagavi: Various Kannada organisations, led by senior leader Ashok Chandaragi, have urged the government to reconsider holding the legislature’s monsoon session in Belagavi. Citing heavy rainfall during the season, activists said conducting the session at this time would be impractical and instead demanded that it continue to be held during the winter session as per established practice.

Ashok Chandaragi's Concerns

Speaking to the media, Ashok Chandaragi said that the rainy season is a difficult time in Belagavi. The city suffers severely during the rainy season. The rivers across the district are likely to flood due to rain, so officials and staff will have to put in more work during this time. The rainy season is therefore not a suitable time to hold the session. The government should review its decision and take a final decision, he said.

Mahadev Talwar's Statement

Mahadev Talwar, the president of Kittur Karnataka Sene, said that the government's decision to hold the session during the rainy season is not correct. Those who come to convey their petitions to the government and those who come for various works, including the preparation of the session, will face inconvenience.

Demand for Winter Session

The organisations have demanded that the session be held during the winter season as per the established practice. They argue that the winter session has been traditionally held in Belagavi without such problems. The heavy rainfall during the monsoon season not only affects the session but also disrupts the daily lives of citizens and government officials.

The activists have urged the government to take into account the practical difficulties and reconsider the decision. They believe that holding the session in the rainy season will lead to logistical challenges and unnecessary hardship for all involved.
