Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi has warned that the state government will 'shake for 2-3 days' after the upcoming Cabinet expansion. His comments come at a time when the DK Shivakumar-led Cabinet has been functioning with only 14 ministers (including DKS) since June 03.
Satish Jarkiholi's Warning
Speaking to reporters, Jarkiholi said, 'The government will shake for 2-3 days after the Cabinet expansion. But it will stabilize afterwards.' He did not elaborate on the reasons for the predicted instability but hinted at internal adjustments within the ruling party.
Current Cabinet Strength
The Karnataka Cabinet, under Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, has been operating with only 14 ministers since June 03. This is significantly lower than the permitted strength of 34 ministers, including the Chief Minister. The delay in expansion has led to speculation about factional tensions within the ruling Congress party.
Political Context
According to sources, the Cabinet expansion is expected to accommodate leaders from various communities and regions. Jarkiholi's statement suggests that the process may lead to temporary friction among aspirants and their supporters. 'Once the new ministers take oath, the government will function smoothly,' he added.
Impact on Governance
Political analysts note that the reduced Cabinet has limited the government's ability to address multiple portfolios effectively. The expansion is anticipated to distribute responsibilities more evenly. Jarkiholi's comments underscore the delicate balancing act required to maintain unity within the party.
