BRS Leader KT Rama Rao Accuses Telangana CM Revanth Reddy of Being 'BJP Man' in Congress Disguise
In a fiery campaign speech, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging he is fundamentally a 'BJP man' merely wearing a Congress mask. Addressing enthusiastic crowds during roadshows and public meetings in Banswada and Bichkunda municipalities on Saturday, KTR urged citizens, particularly those opposing religious politics and supporting minority communities, to recognize the chief minister's true political allegiance by unmasking him.
Direct Appeal to Voters Ahead of Municipal Elections
KTR made a passionate plea to the electorate, stating that Revanth Reddy is the brother of 'Bade Bhai' – a veiled reference to BJP connections – and implored voters to keep this critical point in mind when casting their ballots for the Congress party in the upcoming municipal elections. He emphasized that the Congress has failed to deliver any substantive development for the municipalities over the past two years since coming to power.
Promising a development-focused alternative, KTR assured that if the BRS is voted back into power, it would ensure superior and more comprehensive development of these towns. He called upon voters to teach the Congress a lesson for what he described as deceiving minorities and Backward Classes (BCs) with hollow promises during previous elections.
Questioning Political Defections and Alleging Betrayal
The BRS leader posed pointed questions about the political defection of Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy to the Congress. KTR demanded that Pocharam Srinivas publicly explain his decision to the people of Banswada, especially considering his failure to fulfil key promises such as:
- Pension schemes for the elderly
- Financial assistance programs for women
- Educational support initiatives
- Agricultural assurances to farmers
During his campaign events, KTR strategically played audio and video clips featuring Revanth Reddy himself criticizing Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and his family, accusing them of corruption and various wrongdoings. He reminded the audience of Revanth's past disparaging remarks and questioned the logic behind Pocharam joining the very party whose leader had previously denounced him.
Challenging Defectors and Highlighting Party Loyalty
KTR noted that despite Pocharam Srinivas Reddy's departure to the Congress, thousands of dedicated BRS workers and local leaders have remained steadfastly loyal to the party. He issued a direct challenge to Pocharam, daring him to resign from his legislative position and seek a fresh mandate through a by-election if he genuinely believes in his own leadership and political choices.
The BRS working president went further, accusing Pocharam of betrayal on two fronts: first, betraying the trust of the people of Banswada who elected him, and second, betraying the BRS party itself – allegedly for financial gain.
Former Minister Harish Rao Joins Criticism of Congress Governance
Adding to the political offensive, former minister T Harish Rao accused the Congress government of completely neglecting both urban and rural areas across Telangana over the past two years. Speaking at separate campaign meetings in Toopran and surrounding areas on Saturday, Harish Rao contrasted the development record of previous BRS governance with current conditions.
'KCR, as chief minister of Telangana, transformed Toopran in 10 years, but now there is no one to repair the pothole-filled roads,' Harish Rao stated emphatically. He highlighted specific grievances affecting local residents:
- Property tax increases from Rs 200 to Rs 1,000, disproportionately burdening poorer households
- A newly constructed hospital that remains non-functional due to absence of doctors
- Significant decline in land prices following Revanth Reddy's assumption of power
Harish Rao made a direct appeal to voters to support BRS candidates in the municipal elections, personally pledging that he would take direct responsibility for Toopran's comprehensive development once the BRS returns to power in the state.
The coordinated campaign rhetoric from senior BRS leaders reflects a strategic effort to frame the municipal elections as a referendum on Congress governance, while simultaneously questioning the ideological consistency of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and highlighting alleged development failures over the past two years.
