The National Conference (NC) voiced serious apprehension on Thursday regarding a series of alleged assaults targeting Kashmiri shawl sellers in various parts of the country. The party announced that the Jammu and Kashmir government intends to escalate the matter with the concerned state administrations to ensure the safety and security of these vendors.
Political Condemnation and Historical Parallels
Expressing his dismay over the incidents, NC president Dr. Farooq Abdullah did not mince words. He drew a stark parallel, stating it is deeply unfortunate that certain elements seem intent on imposing a system reminiscent of Hitler's rule in the nation. Abdullah, however, expressed hope, remarking that just as Nazism was ultimately defeated, this brand of extremism too shall meet its end.
In a separate diplomatic note, Abdullah commended the Central government for its decision to dispatch External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Bangladesh. The minister represented India at the funeral of the country's former Prime Minister, Khaleda Zia.

Echoing the party's stance, NC spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq revealed that the Union Home Ministry has already taken strong cognizance of the reported attacks on the Kashmiri shawl sellers. This indicates the issue has been flagged at the highest levels of the central government.
