Tamil Nadu CM Virtually Inaugurates New Hostel for Women Police Personnel in Madurai
Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated a modern four-storey hostel building exclusively for women police personnel in Madurai on Friday via videoconferencing. The new facility, strategically located near the Tallakulam police station, aims to address long-standing accommodation challenges faced by female officers in the region.
State-of-the-Art Facility with 109 Beds
The hostel spans an impressive 17,000 square feet and features 109 beds across its four floors. Constructed by the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation (TNPHC) at a cost of Rs 7.12 crore, this project represents a significant investment in improving infrastructure for women in law enforcement.
Addressing Critical Accommodation Needs
A senior police officer highlighted the previous difficulties in accommodating women personnel who traveled to Madurai for official duties, training, or assignments. "Earlier, it was hard to find suitable and secure lodging for women officers arriving in the city," the officer stated. The new hostel now provides comfortable, safe, and centrally located accommodation, enhancing operational efficiency and welfare.
Key Officials Present at the Event
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of several high-ranking police officials, including Deputy Commissioners S Madhivanan, A G Inigo Thivyan, and S Vanitha, along with other officers. Their attendance underscored the importance of this initiative in supporting women in the police force.
This development is part of broader efforts to improve facilities for police personnel across Tamil Nadu, ensuring better working conditions and support for those serving in critical roles.
