Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Launches Major Development Push in Siwan District

In a significant move to accelerate development in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday inaugurated a comprehensive package of 71 projects with a total value of Rs 208 crore for Siwan district. The launch took place during his ongoing Samriddhi Yatra, with a strong focus on creating employment opportunities and enhancing farmers' income through a revitalized dairy sector.

Foundation Stones and Completed Schemes Unveiled

Of the total projects, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for 40 new schemes valued at Rs 157 crore. Additionally, he unveiled stone plaques to mark the completion of 31 schemes worth Rs 45 crore. These initiatives were launched remotely from a function held on the campus of the upcoming Government Medical College in Mairwa, showcasing the state's commitment to infrastructure and healthcare development.

Dairy Sector Strengthening and Healthcare Upgrades Announced

During his Jan Samvad address at Rajendra Stadium, CM Nitish Kumar announced a robust plan to strengthen the dairy sector. This includes:

  • Forming milk producers' committees in all 1,528 villages of Siwan district.
  • Opening Sudha milk product outlets in all 299 panchayats to boost local dairy economies.

In the healthcare domain, he revealed that all 19 community health centres in the district will be upgraded into specialty hospitals. Furthermore, the sadar hospital will be transformed into a superspecialty hospital, significantly enhancing medical facilities for residents.

Comprehensive Inspection of Development Works

The Chief Minister maintained a packed schedule during his visit, conducting spot inspections of various infrastructure projects. Key highlights include:

  • Reviewing five road projects, including the widening and strengthening of a major road through Siwan town, with officials reporting 24% completion and timely execution of the remainder.
  • Inspecting the under-construction Pachrukkhi bypass road, Bhanta Pokhar-Ziradei road, and the road overbridge at railway level crossing number 91.
  • Evaluating approach roads for the bridge over the Ghaghra river, being built by the Uttar Pradesh government.

He also reviewed the beautification of Panchmandariya pond and inaugurated a fish seed spawning programme there, promoting aquaculture and environmental aesthetics.

Support for Agriculture and Women's Empowerment

At the Mairwa medical college function, CM Nitish Kumar visited departmental stalls and sanctioned financial assistance for agricultural initiatives:

  • Approved Rs 9.90 lakh for Suryansh farmers' producer organisation to establish an oil processing unit.
  • Granted a subsidy of Rs 8 lakh for setting up a farm machinery bank at Kayalgarh village.
  • Sanctioned Rs 5,000 per month each for 23 Krishi Sakhis from 11 blocks to promote organic farming practices.

Addressing women's empowerment, he highlighted that Rs 10,000 has already been provided to 4.13 lakh women under the Mahila Rojgar Yojana. He added that this amount could increase up to Rs 2 lakh per beneficiary based on the success of their economic activities, fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

Additional Development Initiatives

The Chief Minister also announced the establishment of a centre of excellence for sports in the district, aiming to nurture athletic talent and promote a healthy lifestyle among youth. During his visit, he reviewed ongoing schemes and directed officials to expedite the implementation of projects announced during his Pragati Yatra last year, ensuring continuity in development efforts.
