Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Bihar Police Conference, Stresses Rule of Law

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the two-day State Level Police Conference-2026 in Patna on Monday. He emphasized that the rule of law prevails in Bihar and called on police officers to work with honesty, full alertness, and strictness for effective crime control.

CM Launches New Police Units

During the event at the Bihar Police Auditorium in Sardar Patel Bhavan, Nitish Kumar launched two significant initiatives. He inaugurated the newly created Liquor Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau. He also launched a separate cybercrime and security unit to tackle modern challenges.

The Chief Minister lit the lamp to mark the conference's opening. He addressed senior police officers, stating that police play a crucial role in maintaining law and order in society. "I expect all police officers to work with honesty, full alertness, and strictness for crime control," Nitish Kumar said.

Conference Focuses on National Police Agenda

The state-level police conference aims to inform Bihar police officers about key discussions from the All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police-2025. That national conference took place in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, from November 28 to 30 last year.

All senior police officers attended the Patna conference in person. This included officers from the rank of director general of police to superintendents of police. Deputy superintendents of police and circle inspectors joined the proceedings through webcasting.

Special Presentations and Inspections

Additional Director General of Police (Modernisation) Sudhanshu Kumar welcomed the Chief Minister at the beginning of the program. He presented Nitish Kumar with an emblem and a plant as a gesture of respect.

Organizers screened a short film showcasing the work of Bihar Police during the event. Before the conference, the Chief Minister inspected 'Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi' located inside Sardar Patel Bhavan. He sought detailed information about the arrangements at the kitchen facility.

Cybercrime and Narcotics Control Discussions

Inspector General P Kannan made a brief presentation before Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary. He covered issues discussed during the All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police-2025.

A police headquarters communique stated that cybercrime and narcotics control issues received wide discussion on the opening day of the two-day police conference. These topics form critical components of Bihar's updated law enforcement strategy.

The conference represents a significant effort to align Bihar's policing with national standards while addressing state-specific challenges through newly established specialized units.
