Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Ward no. 2 Councillor Pardeep Singh Sherpur was elected president of the Nakodar Nagar Council (NC) on Tuesday. His party colleague, Ward no. 4 Councillor Ashwani Kohli, was elected senior vice-president, while Vijay Maddas was elected vice-president.

The elections were held during a meeting of the newly constituted council, where 17 newly elected councillors were sworn in. Nakodar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Simranjit Singh conducted the proceedings. Sherpur secured 11 votes, while his opponent received 7 votes. Nakodar MLA Inderjit Kaur also cast her vote in favor of Sherpur.
