Patna Municipal Corporation Greenlights Major Development Push with Councillor Scheme 4.0
The empowered standing committee of Patna Municipal Corporation took a significant step on Monday. They approved the ambitious Councillor Scheme 4.0. This decision allocates a substantial Rs 1 crore to every ward councillor. The funds are designated for local development works during the upcoming financial year 2025-26.
Major Meeting Approves 167 Agendas for City Development
The committee held its 19th meeting under the leadership of Patna Mayor Sita Sahu. During this crucial session, members gave their approval to a total of 167 different agendas. This signals a strong and coordinated drive to accelerate infrastructure upgrades and civic improvements across the entire city.
Key approvals from the meeting covered a wide range of essential projects. The list includes extensive work on roads, drains, and pathways. Urban development initiatives in multiple wards also received the green light.
Specific Infrastructure and Civic Projects Get Sanction
The committee sanctioned several important safety and utility projects. These approvals cover fire hydrant installations and manhole construction and repairs. Operations for manhole ambulances and high-yield boring projects were also included in the sanctioned list.
Several areas within Patna will see the construction of new underground drainage systems. Specific wards have been identified for targeted improvements. Wards 3, 7, 25, 30, 42, 57, 63, 65, 67, 69, and 70 will benefit directly.
Residents in these wards can expect expanded drinking water supply and pipeline extensions. The plans also include drainage upgrades and necessary road repairs to improve daily commutes and living conditions.
Focus on Community Spaces and Environmental Initiatives
Beyond basic infrastructure, the committee approved projects aimed at enhancing community life. Plans for new community halls, parks, and public spaces were cleared. City beautification projects also received approval, all with the goal of improving overall living standards for Patna's residents.
In a move supporting national cleanliness goals, the committee aligned decisions with Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 and the Solid Waste Management Rules-2016. They approved the scientific processing of daily coconut husks generated throughout the city.
Furthermore, the committee decided to appoint a specialized agency. This agency will promote awareness about electronic waste. It will also handle the collection and recycling of e-waste across Patna.
Mayor Sita Sahu emphasized the importance of these environmental measures. She stated that these steps aim to promote eco-friendly practices among residents. The goal is to encourage efficient recycling and foster greater environmental awareness in the community.
Commitment to Comprehensive Development and Timely Execution
The meeting also cleared proposals for enhancing health services and fire safety measures. Improvements to traffic management systems were approved to boost overall citizen convenience.
Mayor Sahu reaffirmed the corporation's strong commitment to fast-tracking development in Patna. She highlighted plans for expanding essential services. The broader vision is to build a cleaner, more organized, and modern city for all its inhabitants.
Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena provided assurances regarding project execution. He stated that all approved projects would be completed within their stipulated timelines. Meena directed concerned branches to maintain the highest quality standards.
He also instructed officials to conduct regular monitoring of all projects. This oversight is crucial to ensure that residents receive the intended benefits without any unnecessary delays.
