Patna District Administration Announces Comprehensive Traffic Plan for Mahashivratri Celebrations
In preparation for the anticipated heavy footfall during Mahashivratri on February 15, the Patna district administration has proactively issued a detailed traffic management plan. This strategic move aims to facilitate the smooth movement of multiple religious processions scheduled to commence from various parts of the city starting at 3 PM, all converging at the revered Khajpura Shiv Temple located on Bailey Road.
Traffic Restrictions and Emergency Vehicle Access
To ensure seamless procession flow and public safety, general traffic will face significant diversions across key arterial stretches. Only authorized emergency vehicles, including ambulances and fire tenders, will be permitted on the restricted routes during the event hours. This measure is designed to prevent congestion and allow for rapid response capabilities if needed.
Specific Route Diversions and Alternative Paths
The administration has outlined precise diversion points to manage vehicular movement effectively:
- Nehru Path (Bailey Road) Closure: Vehicular movement for general vehicles will be completely barred on Nehru Path from the Dumra TOP turn below the Raja Bazar flyover extending to Jagdeo Path.
- City Riders and CNG Buses: Commuters traveling from Rukanpura towards Zoo Gate No. 1 are instructed to utilize the flyover instead of the road below to avoid the restricted zone.
- Autos and Commercial Vehicles: Vehicles heading from Jagdeo Path towards the airport, Income Tax roundabout, or Patna Junction will be diverted south at the Jagdeo Path intersection, redirecting them towards Phulwari Jail.
- Small Vehicles to Digha, Rajiv Nagar, or Ashiana: These vehicles moving from Bailey Road will be diverted at Pillar No. 4 near Ambedkar Path and rerouted via Maurya Path.
- Westbound Traffic from Dumra TOP: Vehicles traveling from Dumra TOP on Bailey Road towards the west will be redirected towards the Airport West Gate, then through Phulwari Jail and Jagdev Path.
- Eastbound Commuters to Ashiana or Digha: Those coming from the east on Bailey Road must use the Raja Bazar flyover, proceed to the Rupaspur bridge, take a U-turn, and return via Ambedkar Path under the flyover.
- Vehicles from Ashiana–Digha Road: Arrivals from Ashiana–Digha Road towards Bailey Road in either direction will be diverted at the Passport Office towards Ambedkar Path, or from the Jagdeo Path intersection towards Phulwari Jail.
This comprehensive plan underscores the administration's commitment to maintaining order and safety during the significant religious observance, minimizing disruptions for both devotees and daily commuters alike.
