Patna Adorned in National Colours for 77th Republic Day Festivities
The historic city of Patna has undergone a magnificent transformation as it prepares to host the grand celebrations for the 77th Republic Day. The entire state capital has been meticulously decorated with patriotic fervour, creating a vibrant atmosphere of national pride.
Gandhi Maidan: The Epicenter of Celebrations
Gandhi Maidan, the iconic venue that will host the main Republic Day function on Monday, has been completely sealed to allow for final preparations. The entire boundary of this historic ground has been adorned with beautiful tricolour fabric, creating a stunning visual spectacle. Dedicated workers are currently engaged in setting up temporary tents and decorating both the main stage and the flag-hoisting dais with meticulous attention to detail.
During these crucial preparation days, all 13 entrance gates of Gandhi Maidan have been kept securely locked to ensure uninterrupted work and maintain security protocols.
Enhanced Security and Visitor Arrangements
Security measures have been significantly strengthened at the venue, with a substantial deployment of police and paramilitary personnel guarding the entire area. Authorities have arranged approximately 10,000 seats for visitors who wish to witness the celebrations firsthand.
Public entry will commence at 7:00 AM through specifically designated gates numbered 5, 6, and 7. Visitors are requested to ensure they take their seats by 8:30 AM to witness the ceremonial proceedings without disruption.
City-Wide Beautification Efforts
Beyond Gandhi Maidan, Patna has witnessed extensive beautification work across the city. A dedicated team of 500 workers spent ten consecutive days repainting various public structures including:
- Roadside grilles and railings
- Traffic dividers and medians
- Footpaths and pedestrian pathways
Monu Kumar, one of the diligent workers involved in this massive project, shared details about their schedule: "Our team worked consistently from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, with only a brief one-hour lunch break to maximize productivity."
Another dedicated painter, Md Sonu, emphasized their commitment: "Our team will continue working through the night to ensure all remaining tasks are completed before Monday's celebrations."
Live Telecast and Illumination Displays
The Republic Day programme will be broadcast live across the city through 15 Patna Smart City variable message display screens strategically installed at prominent locations including:
- JP Roundabout
- Kargil Chowk
- Income Tax Roundabout
- Patna Zoo Gate No. 1
- Danapur Railway Station
Additionally, residents will be able to view the celebrations at other significant locations such as Kankarbagh, Boring Road, and the New Secretariat area.
The festive illumination extends to buildings surrounding Gandhi Maidan, with prominent structures like Biscomaun Bhavan and Gyan Bhavan beautifully lit in tricolour themes, adding to the city's celebratory ambiance.
This comprehensive preparation reflects Patna's commitment to honouring India's democratic traditions with grandeur and precision, creating memorable Republic Day celebrations for all citizens.
