PM Modi Launches Scathing Attack on TMC Government in West Bengal Rally
Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a blistering critique of the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government during an election rally in Birbhum, West Bengal, on Thursday. The Prime Minister made serious allegations about the state's law and order situation, accusing the ruling party of institutionalizing violence.
"Cottage Industry" of Violence Alleged
In his most striking remark, Modi claimed that the TMC government had "turned making crude bombs into a cottage industry" in West Bengal. He asserted that the party had systematically normalized political violence across the state, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.
"Today, I make a promise to the people of Bengal," declared the Prime Minister. "As soon as the BJP government is formed in Bengal, a special investigation will be set up against those who aid infiltration. This is my guarantee to you. No matter how powerful they may be, they will be identified and sent to jail."
Criticism of TMC's Core Slogan
Modi specifically targeted TMC's foundational slogan "Maa-Mati-Manush" (Mother, Land, People), dismissing it as empty rhetoric. "TMC's 'Maa-Mati-Manush' is nothing more than empty talk," he stated bluntly. "Maa is crying, maati has been overtaken by infiltrators and maanush is terrified."
The Prime Minister invoked Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's vision for a fear-free society, contrasting it with what he described as TMC's "Maha Jungle Raj" (Great Jungle Rule). He particularly referenced the 2022 Bogtui massacre in Birbhum district, where several people were burned alive.
"What happened in Bogtui was not just an incident; it was a blot on humanity," Modi emphasized. "Innocent women and children were burned alive. If this is not a reign of jungle raj, then what is it?"
Allegations of Disrespecting Tribal Communities
Modi further accused the TMC of showing disrespect toward India's tribal communities. "What kind of mentality does TMC have that it can insult even the country's first tribal woman President?" he questioned, referring to President Droupadi Murmu. "How much arrogance is there?"
Appeal to Young Voters
Addressing West Bengal's youth, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that younger voters would reject the current administration. "The youth power of Bengal is determining the farewell of this ruthless government," Modi stated. "On April 23 and April 29, they will give their answer."
The Prime Minister had earlier addressed a rally in Asansol as part of his campaign tour. West Bengal's 294 assembly constituencies will vote in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with vote counting scheduled for May 4.
Modi's speech represents one of the strongest condemnations of the TMC government during the current election cycle, setting the stage for a contentious electoral battle in India's eastern state.
