Satheesan Accuses CPM of Hypocrisy and Appeasement Politics in Kerala
Satheesan Slams CPM for Hypocrisy and Confusion in Kerala

Satheesan Launches Scathing Attack on CPM's 'Hypocritical' Stance

In a fiery address to party workers in Kasaragod on Saturday, Opposition leader V D Satheesan launched a blistering critique of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), accusing it of descending into hypocrisy and confusion. The leader of the United Democratic Front's Puthu Yuga Yatra did not mince words, stating that the CPM has become entirely inconsistent in its political approach.

"CPM Is Playing Dangerous Appeasement Politics"

Satheesan asserted that the CPM has been engaging in what he called "appeasement politics" that shifts according to electoral convenience. "Until the parliamentary elections, they were busy appeasing minority communities," he explained. "Later, they switched to appeasing majority communities. Currently, there is complete confusion overall. They have reached a state where they do not even know what they are saying or doing."

The opposition leader further accused CPM leaders of deliberately forgetting their past statements and positions. "They are pretending to forget what they said in the past," Satheesan charged, suggesting this selective memory serves their current political needs.

Targeting CPM State Secretary M V Govindan

Satheesan specifically targeted CPM state secretary M V Govindan, who was leading the LDF's Vikasana Munnetta Jatha in the same region. He suggested Govindan suffers from political memory loss regarding the CPM's historical alliances. "For 42 years, Jamaat-e-Islami was aligned with the CPM," Satheesan reminded the audience.

"Many times, individuals like Govindan and Pinarayi Vijayan were elected with the support of Jamaat-e-Islami. If needed, clips of Pinarayi Vijayan's speech justifying Jamaat-e-Islami and Deshabhimani's editorial can be sent to Govindan. If his forgetfulness is deliberate, then nothing can be done about it," he stated pointedly.

Confidence in UDF's Electoral Prospects

The opposition leader expressed strong confidence in the UDF's electoral prospects, suggesting that CPM leaders cannot accept their projected success. "When UDF says it will win more than 100 seats, someone like Govindan cannot accept it," Satheesan remarked.

He referenced Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's own electoral predictions with a touch of sarcasm. "As Pinarayi Vijayan said, Govindan can also aim for 110 seats. A troll has emerged saying that 110 is the speed at which CPM would run away when defeated," he shared, drawing laughter from supporters.

Puthu Yuga Yatra's Vision for Kerala

Satheesan emphasized that his Puthu Yuga Yatra represents a significant departure in Kerala's political discourse. "Through Puthu Yuga Yatra, for the first time in Kerala's history, discussions about the state's future and new projects are happening seriously," he claimed.

The opposition leader extended an olive branch of sorts to his political rival. "Govindan will understand this after 30 days. He is observing our journey. We are ready to accept his advice as well," Satheesan stated, suggesting openness to constructive criticism despite the heated rhetoric.

On Community Organizations and Internal Matters

In a broader statement about political interference, Satheesan clarified his position regarding community organizations. "We do not interfere in the internal matters of any community organizations," he asserted. "Our wish is for everyone to walk together. It is not the opposition leader's job to comment on any of this."

He explained that media often approaches him about issues within organizations like NSS or SNDP, but he prefers to maintain distance. "I am not someone who comments on these matters. The organizations will resolve their internal issues themselves," Satheesan concluded, drawing a clear boundary between political criticism and organizational autonomy.
