Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar has convened a meeting of his party's office bearers, Members of Parliament, and Members of the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai. The meeting takes place against the backdrop of a recent visit by NCP working president Praful Patel and state chief Sunil Tatkare to Pawar's residence in Mumbai last week.
Pawar's Health and Party Dynamics
Pawar had been unwell for the past few months but has since recovered. Party members have not disclosed the agenda, but considering the differences that have emerged within the other NCP faction, and Patel and Tatkare's meeting with Pawar amid speculation that both are being sidelined in their own party, NCP (SP) members believe the upcoming event is significant.
Agenda and Expectations
A senior party office bearer told TOI, "Sharad Pawar is expected to take stock of the party's situation in the state during the meeting with office bearers. However, issues concerning the NCP's discourse are likely to be discussed with the party's core team in a separate meeting." Preparations for the party's foundation day on June 10 will also be on the agenda.
NCP (SP) MLA and Sharad Pawar's grandnephew, Rohit Pawar, stated, "I do not know the agenda. Senior members of our party are likely to speak on various state issues."
