A tragic road accident in Prayagraj claimed the lives of a man and his two sons, while leaving six others injured, after their SUV collided head-on with another speeding vehicle near Leprocy Crossing under the Naini police station limits in the trans-Yamuna area on Friday.

Victims Identified

The deceased were identified as Deepak Chaurasia (45) and his sons Divyansh (20) and Harshit alias Mann Chaurasia (17), residents of Phaphamau. The family was traveling to Maihar in Madhya Pradesh in their SUV, which had seven occupants.

Details of the Collision

According to police, the driver of the other SUV, who was traveling from Rewa to Prayagraj, lost control of the vehicle, breached the divider, and entered the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision. The driver has been detained, and the vehicle has been seized.

Nine occupants from both SUVs sustained injuries in the accident. Upon receiving an alert, a Naini police team rushed to the spot with reinforcements and initiated rescue operations. Local residents assisted the police in extricating the trapped victims from both vehicles and transporting them to the Chaka Community Health Centre.

Doctors referred the critically injured individuals, including Deepak and his sons, to the district hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. The other injured persons are receiving treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable.

An investigation into the accident is underway, and further details are awaited.
