Trichy: VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Wednesday described as ‘shocking and worrying’ the developments in AIADMK that led to the resignation of C Vijayabaskar and other MLAs. The Chidambaram MP told reporters at Trichy airport that it was important for Tamil Nadu politics that AIADMK remained united.
The circumstances that prompted an elected representative to resign pointed to an internal crisis in the party, he said. “AIADMK is a Dravidian party. I have often said that it is good for Tamil Nadu politics if the party remains strong,” he said. “It is good for AIADMK, nurtured by leaders such as M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, to remain a cohesive force,” he added.
Thirumavalavan dismissed as ‘false narratives spread by a section of the media’ reports that former VCK MLA Aloor Shanavas was at odds with the party leadership.
