They were forced to walk for nearly two days to reach the nearest market in Orchha, with the return trip taking an equal amount of time. This made simple tasks like buying groceries or selling minor forest produce a week-long, risky endeavor.
A Market Buzzing with Hope and Commerce
The launch, spearheaded by the police and district administration, drew thousands of people on its opening day, showcasing the pent-up demand. The market's success was immediate, attracting not just local villagers but also traders from as far as the Narayanpur district headquarters.
Stalls offering clothes, groceries, utensils, and plastic goods lined the market. Crucially, for the first time, local residents could bring their forest produce and other items to sell within their own region.
