Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Presents 10th State Budget
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared on Wednesday that the state has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past nine years, evolving from a condition of policy paralysis to a region brimming with unlimited potential. This statement was made as the government presented its 10th budget in the state Assembly, a historic milestone for the administration.
Budget Reflects Public Sentiments and Aspirations
Adityanath emphasized that the budget for the financial year 2026-27 is a direct reflection of the sentiments and aspirations of the people of Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted that the size of the state budget has more than tripled during this nine-year period, showcasing significant financial growth and development. According to news agency PTI, the chief minister stated, "Uttar Pradesh has successfully transformed its perception over the past nine years, emerging from policy paralysis and changing perceptions to present UP as a land of unlimited potential."
Theme of the 2026-27 Budget
The chief minister outlined the core theme of the budget, which is dedicated to creating a prosperous Uttar Pradesh through technological investment. He described it as focusing on safe women, capable youth, happy farmers, and work for every hand. "This budget presents a new saga of nine years of new construction before the countrymen," Adityanath remarked, underscoring the government's commitment to inclusive growth and development.
Historic Achievement in Budget Presentation
Adityanath termed the budget historic, noting that it is the 10th budget presented by his government. He pointed out that this is the first time a chief minister in Uttar Pradesh has had the opportunity to present a tenth budget, an unprecedented event in the state's history. "This is the tenth budget of our government. This is the first time that a Chief Minister has had the opportunity to present the tenth budget. This has never happened before in a state like UP," he said, highlighting the stability and continuity of his administration.
No New Taxes and Financial Management
In a significant announcement, the chief minister stressed that no new taxes have been imposed over the past nine years. He attributed the state's financial turnaround to efficient financial management and the plugging of leakages. Adityanath explained that through these measures, Uttar Pradesh has moved from being categorized as a 'BIMARU' state—a term historically used for underdeveloped regions—to achieving revenue surplus status. "By stopping all the tax evasion and leakages in UP through efficient financial management, we have succeeded in transforming UP from a BIMARU state to a revenue surplus state, presenting it as a breakthrough in the Indian economy," he asserted.
Budget Details and Increase
Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the state Assembly. The budget amounts to Rs 9,12,696.35 crore, marking an increase of approximately 12.2 percent over the previous year's outlay. This substantial rise underscores the government's focus on expanding financial allocations to support various developmental initiatives across the state.
The presentation of this budget not only highlights the economic progress of Uttar Pradesh but also sets the stage for future growth, with a strong emphasis on technological advancement and social welfare. As the state continues to build on its achievements, this budget aims to further solidify its position as a key contributor to India's economic landscape.
