Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a stark warning about the dangers of internal division, suggesting it could create situations in India similar to those faced by Hindus in Bangladesh. He made these remarks while addressing a gathering on Saturday at the ongoing Magh Mela in Prayagraj.
A Call for Unity Against Disruptive Forces
The Chief Minister was speaking at an event to mark the 726th birth anniversary celebrations of Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Bhagwan. He asserted that social unity is the strongest safeguard against forces that seek to disrupt society. Adityanath pointed to the alleged atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh and the perceived silence surrounding them as a cautionary tale for India.
"Where are the voices of opposition on the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh? The silence is deafening. There are no candle marches or protests, as if a tape has been put on their lips," Yogi stated. He emphasized that divisive forces thrive only when a society is fragmented from within.
Legacy of Ramanandacharya and a Vision for Sanatan Dharma
The CM spoke from the camp of Jagadguru Mahamandaleshwar Santoshdas, known as Satua Baba. He recalled the legacy of Ramanandacharya, noting that the saint did not build institutions but shaped society through his disciples. Ramanandacharya made 12 disciples from different castes, including Sant Kabir and Ravidas, advocating powerfully for a unified society.
Yogi Adityanath declared that the coming era belongs to Sanatan Dharma. He stressed that only a united society could ensure that no Hindu or Dalit Hindu faces atrocities in India, contrasting it with the situation in Bangladesh. He took a swipe at previous governments, accusing them of failing to protect the nation's 'Mool Chetna' or central soul.
Accolades for Modi Govt and a Swipe at Opposition
Adityanath credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the construction of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which he said restored faith in India's cultural heritage. He contrasted this with the opposition, alleging that parties not in power today would create an identity crisis, cause anarchy, attack Sanatan Dharma, and use riots to inflict suffering.
"We must not allow this to happen again under any circumstances," he urged the crowd. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister performed ritual bathing at the Sangam. He praised the purity of the Ganga's waters, linking it to the Namami Gange project and Modi's leadership. "Only a true son of Mother India could accomplish this, and Modi has proven it," he said.
Following the Mela events, Yogi Adityanath chaired a review meeting at the ICCC auditorium, held discussions with associates, and visited the Law University at Jhalwa before departing for Lucknow.
