Yogi Adityanath Government's Disaster Relief System Shows Tangible Impact in Kanpur
The disaster relief system implemented by the Yogi Adityanath government is demonstrating significant on-ground effectiveness in Kanpur Nagar. Over the past three financial years, a total of Rs 73.65 lakh has been disbursed directly to the bank accounts of affected families from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). This financial assistance has been provided in cases involving livestock loss and loss of life due to snake bites, offering crucial economic support to the community.
Financial Assistance for Loss of Life Due to Snake Bites
In total, Rs 56 lakh was allocated for 14 deaths caused by snake bites. The breakdown of this assistance over the years is as follows:
- 2025-26: Nine cases of loss of life were reported, with an assistance amount of Rs 36 lakh provided.
- 2023-24: Five cases of loss of life came to light, and Rs 20 lakh was disbursed as relief.
- 2024-25: Notably, not a single case of loss of life was reported during this period.
This targeted aid has been a lifeline for families grappling with such tragic incidents, helping to alleviate financial burdens during difficult times.
Priority Relief for Livestock Losses
The administration has prioritized cases of animal deaths due to snake bites, recognizing the economic impact on livestock farmers. Over three years, Rs 17,65,000 was given for a total of 46 livestock losses. The annual distribution includes:
- 2025-26: 28 animals died, and a relief amount of Rs 10.9 lakh was provided.
- 2024-25: 13 cases of livestock loss were reported, with Rs 4,87,500 given in assistance.
- 2023-24: Five cases of livestock loss were documented, and Rs 1,87,500 was disbursed as relief.
Livestock farmers from Bilhaur, Ghatampur, and Narwal tehsils were among those who received this financial support, which has been instrumental in sustaining their livelihoods amid disruptions caused by the death of milch animals.
Direct Bank Transfers Enhance Trust and Efficiency
The direct transfer of funds to bank accounts has not only provided economic support but also fostered trust among beneficiaries. Raju Prasad Umrao from Kumhkara in Ghatampur shared that after his buffalo died from a snake bite, the government's financial assistance came to his rescue. Similarly, Rampal from Narwal expressed satisfaction that the relief amount was deposited directly into his account, ensuring timely and transparent aid.
District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh emphasized that eligible families receive timely assistance from the Natural Calamity Relief Fund in cases of loss of life and livestock due to snake bites. This proactive approach underscores the government's commitment to effective disaster management and community welfare, making a tangible difference in the lives of Kanpur residents.
