Yogi Adityanath Unveils Rs 53,000 Crore Varanasi Development Milestone
Yogi: Rs 53,000 Cr Development in Varanasi, 2/3 Projects Done

In a significant announcement highlighting the transformative development of the holy city, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that Varanasi has been the recipient of massive infrastructure and development projects worth more than Rs 53,000 crore over the past eleven years. The CM made this revelation on Saturday during his visit to the city, where he took stock of ongoing works and welfare measures for the public.

Massive Investment and Project Completion Status

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath provided a detailed breakdown of the colossal investment that has flowed into the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that projects with a total value exceeding Rs 53,000 crore have been sanctioned for Varanasi since 2014. Giving an update on the progress, the CM highlighted that a substantial two-thirds of these ambitious projects have already been successfully completed. The remaining one-third of the projects are currently in various stages of execution and are progressing as planned.

On-Ground Review and Welfare for Pilgrims

Beyond reviewing the physical and financial progress of the development works, CM Yogi Adityanath personally inspected the arrangements made for the comfort and safety of pilgrims. With a large number of devotees arriving in Varanasi from across the country, the administration has set up night shelters to protect them from the intense winter cold.

The Chief Minister visited the Town Hall night shelter on Saturday evening and distributed blankets to the people staying there. He emphasized the administration's commitment to ensuring no one is left to face the harsh weather in the open. "Local administration and Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) are operating 28 night shelters in the city," Yogi said, adding that clear instructions have been issued to this effect.

Statewide Winter Preparedness

Expanding on the welfare initiatives, the Chief Minister assured that the state government has made comprehensive arrangements to protect the needy and poor during the cold wave conditions. He mentioned that sufficient funds have been allocated and mechanisms put in place across Uttar Pradesh.

The measures are not limited to night shelters. The CM confirmed that the distribution of woollen clothes and the provision of bonfire points are also being actively ensured to shield people from the intense cold. This holistic approach underscores the government's focus on immediate, ground-level relief alongside long-term infrastructural development for the ancient city of Varanasi.
