Livvy Dunne Sets Sights on Acting After Gymnastics Career
Livvy Dunne, the former LSU Tigers gymnastics star, is already mapping out a new future as she prepares to leave the sport behind. In a recent interview, Dunne disclosed that she has begun taking acting lessons and hopes to venture into movies or television once her college gymnastics journey concludes in 2025.
A Longtime Interest in Acting
Dunne explained that acting has been a quiet passion of hers for years, but it always took a backseat to her rigorous schedule as a student-athlete. "One thing people would be surprised about is that I take acting lessons and I really love it," she told People. "It's something I've been passionate about for quite some time. I was interested in doing that at LSU, but sports are your top priority when you're a student-athlete at school; school and sports, but really gymnastics was my main focus."
Now, with her college career winding down, Dunne feels she finally has the time to explore this creative avenue. "And now that I'm done with school, I have more time to lean into the acting stuff and the creative side of things," she added.
Embracing New Opportunities
Dunne expressed enthusiasm for potential roles in film or television, emphasizing her love for collaborative projects. "I feel like collabing on creativity and seeing the end result, having something be great after, that's something that I love," she said. "Whether it's gymnastics or acting in a movie or a TV show, I just think watching all your hard work pay off... I think it's so cool."
Her announcement has garnered significant attention, thanks in part to her massive online following. Dunne boasts over 5.3 million followers on Instagram and approximately 7.9 million on TikTok, where she regularly shares glimpses of her training and daily life.
Balancing Personal Life and Sports Connections
Outside of her career aspirations, Dunne remains closely tied to the sports world through her relationship with Paul Skenes, a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. She plans to support him actively this season, aiming to attend as many of his games as possible. "I'll try to make all of his starts, that's my goal this year," she told the Daily Mail in February.
Skenes is scheduled to pitch for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic against Mexico, adding to the excitement in Dunne's life as she navigates this transitional period.
Looking Ahead
As Livvy Dunne's gymnastics chapter comes to a close, her foray into acting represents a bold new direction. With her dedication and widespread fame, she is poised to make a significant impact beyond the gym, captivating fans who have followed her journey from the balance beam to potential screen roles.
