Tilottama Sen Claims Third Consecutive Rifle Title at National Selection Trials
National champion Tilottama Sen demonstrated exceptional consistency and skill by securing her third straight victory in the 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Group A selection trials on Monday. This remarkable achievement follows her earlier wins in the T1 and T2 national selection trials held in January, solidifying her position as a dominant force in Indian shooting.
Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions Final
In a thrilling display of resilience, Tilottama Sen overcame a challenging start where she was positioned fourth after the prone series. She staged an impressive comeback during the standing series, ultimately clinching the top spot with a final score of 357.0. This placed her just 0.4 points ahead of Nischal Singh, who finished second with a score of 356.6.
Olympian Anjum Moudgil secured third place with a score of 345.8. The other finalists in this highly competitive event included Sakshi Sunil Padekar, Mehuli Ghosh, Shriyanka Sadangi, Lajjakumari Gauswami, and Nupur Kumrawat, all showcasing the depth of talent in Indian shooting.
Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions Final
In the men's category, 10m air rifle national champion Kiran Ankush Jadhav emerged victorious in a nail-biting final. The Navy shooter finished with a score of 353.6, narrowly edging out Niraj Kumar by just 0.3 points, as Kumar shot 353.3. Goldi Gurjar claimed the third spot with a score of 342.4.
The top eight positions were completed by Nishan Budha (329.6), Akhil Sheoran (321.7), Sidharth Gaur (311.0), Arjun Babuta (297.5), and Surya Pratap Singh (296.4), highlighting the intense competition among India's elite shooters.
Men's 10m Air Pistol Final
Udhayveer Sidhu delivered a commanding performance in the 10m air pistol event, maintaining consistency from start to finish to secure first place with a score of 243.2. Kedarling Uchaganve, who had qualified for the finals in the top spot, finished second with a score of 242.6. World champion Ravinder Singh took third place with a score of 221.9.
Qualification Rounds Overview
Earlier in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions qualification, Anjum Moudgil led the field with a score of 588, followed closely by Nischal and Mehuli, who both shot 587. Lajjakumari (586), Tilottama (585), Nupur (584), Shriyanka (584), and Sakshi (584) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.
In the men's qualification, Akhil Sheoran topped the standings with a score of 589, followed by Niraj Kumar and Kiran Ankush Jadhav, both scoring 588. Sidharth Gaur (587), Goldi Gurjar (586), Arjun Babuta (585), Nishan Budha (584), and Surya Pratap Singh Banshtu (584) completed the list of finalists.
For the 10m air pistol men's qualification, Kedarling led with a score of 587, followed by Aakash Bharadwaj (583) and Mukesh Nellavalli (581). Final winner Udhayveer Sidhu, along with Jonathan Gavin Antony, Anmol Jain, Jaypal Malviya, and Ravinder Singh, all qualified with scores of 581 each.
The national selection trials T3 are set to conclude on Tuesday with the qualification and finals of the 10m air pistol women's event, promising more exciting action from India's top shooting talents.
