Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 15, becomes youngest to 1000 T20 runs, fastest in 473 balls
15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fastest to 1000 T20 runs

In a remarkable feat, 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become the youngest player in men's T20 cricket to reach 1,000 runs. He achieved this milestone faster than anyone before, taking just 473 balls to get there, surpassing the previous record held by Mitchell Owen, who reached 1,000 runs in 533 balls. Sooryavanshi's achievement came during a whirlwind century knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026.

Record-breaking century

The teenager hammered a breathtaking 36-ball century in IPL 2026, which is now the third-fastest hundred in league history. Only Chris Gayle's iconic 30-ball blitz and Sooryavanshi's own 35-ball effort from the previous season are faster. His innings was a statistical storm, featuring 12 sixes, the most by an Indian in a single IPL innings. This surpassed the previous mark of 11 sixes jointly held by Murali Vijay and Sooryavanshi himself. Across IPL history, only a handful of innings have featured more maximums.

Elite company

Sooryavanshi now joins an elite group of players, alongside Abhishek Sharma, with multiple IPL knocks featuring 10 or more sixes. He also became the first batter to score more than one IPL hundred in under 40 balls.
