In a decisive mandate for the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Dr Tapan Das secured a landslide victory in the Dimoria (SC) constituency of Assam. Polling 1,16,058 votes, he defeated Congress candidate Shri Kishor Kumar Baruah by a massive margin of 65,385 votes. Independent candidate Kaberi Das Teran finished a distant third with 5,853 votes.
