India defeated hosts New Zealand 2-0 in the final of the FIH Women's Nations Cup on Sunday, clinching their second title in the tournament and securing promotion to the FIH Women's Pro League for the next season. India started aggressively, earning a penalty corner in the 4th minute. Navneet Kaur converted with a powerful hit, giving India an early lead. The team's transition play was exceptional, constantly troubling New Zealand's defense. In the 15th minute, India won their fifth penalty corner of the first quarter. Deepika's sharp attempt was deflected by Sunelita Toppo, making it 2-0.

New Zealand grew into the game in the second quarter, seeking to reduce the deficit. However, India remained disciplined, limiting the hosts' chances and creating a few opportunities of their own. Neither team scored, and India took a two-goal lead into halftime.

Lalremsiami was named 'Player of the Match' for the final. Deepika finished as joint-top scorer in the tournament with six goals, sharing the honor with USA's Ashley Sessa. India remained unbeaten throughout the campaign, defeating USA (3-2), Japan (2-1), and Uruguay (3-2) in Pool A, followed by a 6-0 semi-final win over Chile. This is India's second Nations Cup title, having won the inaugural edition in 2022.
Recognition and Rewards
Hockey India announced a cash award of Rs 3 lakh for each player and Rs 1.5 lakh for each support staff member in recognition of the team's achievement.
