Marsh Century, Prince Brilliance Help LSG Beat RCB

Mitchell Marsh's scintillating century and Prince Yadav's exceptional bowling performance powered Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a convincing six-wicket victory over defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.

Marsh's Masterclass

Chasing a challenging target of 198, LSG got off to a flying start thanks to Marsh's aggressive batting. The Australian all-rounder smashed 112 off just 62 balls, laced with 10 fours and 7 sixes, to single-handedly dismantle the RCB bowling attack. His innings was a perfect blend of power and precision, as he took on both pacers and spinners with equal ease.

Marsh found able support from skipper KL Rahul, who contributed a steady 45 off 38 balls, and the duo added 130 runs for the second wicket to put LSG firmly in control. Despite a few hiccups in the middle overs, Marsh's brilliance ensured LSG reached the target with four balls to spare.

Prince Yadav's Heroics

Earlier, RCB posted a formidable 197 for 5 in their 20 overs, thanks to a fiery half-century from Virat Kohli (68 off 44) and a quickfire 45 from Glenn Maxwell. However, Prince Yadav emerged as the star with the ball for LSG, picking up 3 wickets for just 27 runs in his four overs. His clever variations and pinpoint yorkers stifled RCB's run flow in the death overs, restricting them to a below-par total.

Match Turning Point

The turning point of the match came in the 16th over of RCB's innings when Prince Yadav dismissed the dangerous Maxwell and then followed it up with the wicket of Dinesh Karthik in the same over. This double strike pegged RCB back, and they could only manage 45 runs in the last five overs.

For RCB, Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 38, but the rest of the attack looked ordinary against Marsh's onslaught.

What This Means

With this win, LSG, who were placed 10th in the points table before this match, have kept their playoff hopes alive. RCB, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their bowling performance after putting up a competitive total. The defending champions remain in the top four but will need to address their bowling concerns.

Marsh was adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. LSG will next face Rajasthan Royals, while RCB take on Chennai Super Kings in their upcoming fixtures.
