Cricket Australia announced the squads for the upcoming limited-overs and Test series against Pakistan and Bangladesh on Tuesday. In a significant move, explosive all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been dropped from the T20I squad for the series against Pakistan and Bangladesh, with selectors opting for a fresh approach in the shortest format.
Maxwell omitted from T20Is
Glenn Maxwell, who has been a mainstay in Australia's limited-overs setup for over a decade, was left out of the 15-member T20I squad. The selectors cited the need to build a new-look team ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Maxwell last played a T20I in February 2025 and has struggled for consistent form in the format recently. His omission paves the way for younger players to stake a claim.
