Ranji Trophy Final Relocated to Hubballi for Stadium Safety Upgrades
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has officially announced that the highly anticipated Ranji Trophy final between Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir will now be hosted in Hubballi. This strategic decision was confirmed on Thursday, with the match scheduled to commence on February 24.
Decision Driven by Infrastructure Enhancements
According to Vinay Mruthyunjaya, the official spokesperson for KSCA, the association had the option to stage the final at either the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru or the KSCA Hubballi grounds. After thorough evaluation and consultations with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), KSCA opted for Hubballi to allow uninterrupted progress on critical safety and infrastructure upgrades at the Bengaluru venue.
Mruthyunjaya explained that these upgrades are based on recommendations from a state-appointed expert committee and other regulatory authorities. "Several spectator gates and access points are currently being dismantled and widened, along with other essential improvement works," he stated.
Ensuring Optimal Spectator Experience
The ongoing developments at M Chinnaswamy Stadium made it impractical to host a marquee event like the Ranji Trophy final without compromising on quality. "In view of these ongoing developments, it would not have been feasible to ensure the high-quality match-viewing experience and spectator convenience that a marquee fixture such as the Ranji Trophy Final deserves," Mruthyunjaya emphasized.
This move is not merely about logistical adjustments; it aligns with the broader vision of the newly elected KSCA managing committee, led by Venkatesh Prasad. The committee aims to decentralize cricket events and foster growth across Karnataka.

By shifting the final to Hubballi, KSCA seeks to:
