Bangladesh suffered a major blow ahead of the two-Test series against Australia as star pacer Taskin Ahmed was ruled out due to a side strain. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the development on Friday, stating that the bowler will miss the entire series.
Injury Details and Recovery
Taskin Ahmed sustained the injury during a training session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Scans revealed a Grade 2 side strain, which typically requires three to four weeks of rehabilitation. The first Test begins on August 15, making his participation impossible.
BCB Statement
BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin said, "It's unfortunate that Taskin will miss the series. He was in excellent form, having taken 15 wickets in his last five Tests. We have named Shoriful Islam as his replacement." Taskin has claimed 42 wickets in 15 Tests at an average of 29.3.
