Palamuru Strikers registered their first win of the season with a disciplined all-round performance, defeating Medak Falcons by five wickets in the second match of the day at the Hyderabad Cricket Association's TG20 on Thursday. Chasing 165, the Strikers reached the target with 13 balls to spare, powered by Rohit Rayudu's maiden half-century of the season.
Bowlers Set Up the Win
Rishab Baslas (2/33) and Ravi Kiran (2/34) were the standout bowlers for the Strikers, restricting the Falcons to 164/9. Ravi Kiran struck early, dismissing Purnanand Rao (1 off 2) in the first over and later removing Naman Agarwal (21 off 13) in the fourth over to slow the scoring rate. After Ahwinan Ram (12 off 10) retired out, captain Ravi Teja and Shrunjith Reddy (19 off 19) attempted a rebuild, but Rathan Teja bowled Shrunjith, and Rohit Rayudu had Ravi Teja caught behind for a brisk 13 off seven deliveries.
Reduced to 77/5, the Falcons relied on Varun Yerram (36 off 23) and Vikram Naik (36 off 33) to stitch together a vital 64-run partnership. However, Rishab Baslas broke the stand by dismissing Varun and then removed Ishan Sharma (6 off 2) in the same over. Vikram Naik fell in the final over as the Falcons finished at 164/9.
Rayudu Anchors the Chase
In response, the Falcons struck early as Varun Yerram dismissed Karan Yadav (0 off 1) and Pragnay Reddy (15 off 10) to leave the Strikers at 24/2. Vignesh Reddy then joined Rohit Rayudu, and the pair added 59 runs off 36 balls to swing momentum back. Vignesh's quickfire 39 off 22 ended when Syed Ghazi Abbas bowled him. Shrunjith Reddy clean bowled Shadab Ahmed (3 off 3), but Rohit continued his measured knock, finding support from Rathan Teja (23 off 20).
Rohit brought up his maiden half-century in style, hitting Shrunjith Reddy for a six in the 18th over. Pratheek Pawar finished the chase with boundaries as the Strikers sealed the win with 13 balls to spare.
