Sports Ministry task force to revive F1 in India by 2028

The Sports Ministry has convened a meeting with national sports federations, current and former race drivers, and other stakeholders to explore the revival and development of Formula 1 and motorsports in India. The Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida last hosted a Formula 1 race in 2013. The government is optimistic about bringing the sport back and aims to host a race by 2028.

Task Force Formation

As part of the next steps, the Ministry will establish a dedicated task force to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the motorsports ecosystem in the country. This task force will examine the challenges hindering the growth of motorsports and assess the potential benefits of hosting major motorsport events in India, including international exposure, economic impact, tourism boost, and investment opportunities.

Scope and Objectives

The task force will identify key priorities, infrastructure requirements, and operational needs essential for the sustainable development of the sector. It will submit its recommendations to the Sports Ministry, which will then develop a comprehensive policy framework to promote and strengthen motorsports in India.
