A 14-year-old kabaddi player was stabbed to death by his classmate with a pair of scissors in Badalgarh village, Fatehabad, on Thursday evening. The police suspect a long-running rivalry over kabaddi as the motive.
Victim and Incident Details
The victim, Armaan, a Class IX student at the village government school, died on the spot after being repeatedly stabbed in the chest. The accused, also a student of the same school, was apprehended and sent to a juvenile home in Ambala after being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
According to police, the two boys had exchanged barbs at school earlier. Preliminary investigations suggest they had an ongoing rivalry related to kabaddi and had clashed on previous occasions. After school, the two reportedly agreed to meet in the evening. Armaan was eating at a village shop when the accused arrived, and another argument broke out. Local residents intervened and sent the accused home.
Attack and Arrest
However, police said the boy later returned carrying a pair of scissors, allegedly taken from his father's clinic, and attacked Armaan, stabbing him multiple times in the chest before fleeing. Armaan succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The police have taken the accused into custody and are continuing their investigation.
Background of the Victim
Armaan was a promising kabaddi player who had represented his school and won medals in local tournaments, including competitions in Punjab. His father, Kulwinder Singh, a farmer, said his son regularly participated in open kabaddi tournaments and was well known in the village for his sporting talent. The police said the exact motive and sequence of events are being verified as part of the investigation.
