Ajmer Cyber Police Arrest Man for Hacking RPSC Portal, Withdrawing Applications
Ajmer Police Arrest Man for RPSC Portal Hack

Ajmer: The cyber police in Ajmer on Friday arrested a man from Dausa district within six days of registering an FIR for allegedly breaching the Rajasthan Public Service Commission’s (RPSC) recruitment portal and withdrawing three applications submitted for the Assistant Mining Engineer Recruitment Examination-2024.

Arrest and Investigation

DSP Usha Yadav stated that the accused, identified as Rahul Kumar Meena (27), was arrested following an investigation launched after the RPSC lodged a complaint on June 13. Preliminary findings suggest that the accused used artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools and other technical methods to bypass the One-Time Registration (OTR) system and gain unauthorised access to the recruitment portal.

According to police, the accused allegedly tampered with the portal and withdrew three candidates’ applications. Investigators are now examining the motive behind the cyber intrusion.

Incident Details

The RPSC filed an FIR after detecting unauthorised access and tampering with its recruitment portal. The matter came to light when three online applications for the Assistant Mining Engineer Recruitment Examination-2024, conducted by the Department of Mines and Geology, were found to have been withdrawn without the candidates’ knowledge. Following this, the cyber police registered a case.

Officials said the recruitment examination had already been conducted and results were declared on July 31, 2025. The issue surfaced when one of the shortlisted candidates emailed the RPSC on Jan 1, 2026, stating that he had received an SMS on Dec 29, 2025, informing him that his application had been withdrawn, despite never making such a request.

The RPSC clarified that it had no provision or withdrawal window for candidates to withdraw applications at that stage. The matter was subsequently referred to the Information Technology and Communication Department in Jaipur.

Technical Investigation

A technical investigation confirmed that the portal had been compromised and ruled out any system malfunction. Officials found that on Dec 29, 2025, at around 6.30 pm, a new user account was created and used to withdraw three applications.

Digital forensic analysis indicated that the accused allegedly gained unauthorised access by manipulating SSO IDs, email accounts and IP addresses linked to the recruitment process. Further investigation is underway.
