GTA 6 Pre-Orders Launch June 25, 2026; Cover Art Revealed
GTA 6 Pre-Orders Start June 25, 2026; Cover Art Out

After thirteen years of anticipation, two delays, and a restless online community, Rockstar Games finally provided Grand Theft Auto fans with concrete news on Wednesday. The developer announced that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will open on June 25, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, encompassing both physical and digital editions.

Alongside the pre-order date, Rockstar released a 30-second teaser video on YouTube showcasing the official cover art for GTA 6. The artwork continues the comic-book panel style that has been a hallmark of the series since its early entries. The cover prominently features the game's dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia, surrounded by fast cars, motorbikes, boats, weapons, and the sun-drenched Vice City aesthetic. According to IGN's analysis, the cover includes a biker performing a trick near a police car and a helicopter equipped with a minigun. Below, an unknown woman wears a necklace with the word "siempre" (Spanish for "always"), and previously announced supporting character Boobie Ike, a real estate mogul and club owner, appears. At the bottom, Raul Bautista, a veteran Vice City bank robber, is depicted alongside a sports car, a speedboat, a flamingo, and an alligator. The cover art is available as downloadable wallpaper from the official GTA VI website.

Pricing and Market Expectations

The pre-order announcement also signals that official pricing will be revealed on June 25. This has been a hot topic among fans and analysts. Bank of America analysts predict an $80 price point, suggesting Rockstar could set a new industry standard. Other estimates range from $79.99 to $99.99, though nothing is confirmed. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed pricing concerns at the iicon conference in April, stating, "Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery. How you feel about something you buy is the intersection of the thing itself and what you pay for." He added, "Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair for what they got. What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history, and it's a pretty daunting challenge. If we do that, and if we're of service to our customers, then the upside will take care of itself." The industry is watching closely to see whether the price lands at $80 or $100.

The June 25 pre-order date applies to digital storefronts and select physical retailers. The full list of participating physical stores has yet to be announced, so those seeking disc copies may need to wait for further details.

Platform Availability and PC Release

GTA VI will launch exclusively on consoles first, with a PC release likely later, mirroring Rockstar's past strategy. GTA V launched on consoles in September 2013 and reached PC in April 2015, nearly two years later. Zelnick acknowledged this pattern in a Bloomberg interview, saying, "The PC market is a great market and it's growing for console-type titles. It's a market we serve avidly. Virtually all of our hit titles hit all platforms over time."

Release Date and Story Summary

GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. Analysts project it will sell tens of millions of copies and generate $7.6 billion in its first two months, according to gaming venture capital firm Konvoy. The official story summary on Rockstar's website reads: "When an easy score lands Jason and Lucia in a conspiracy stretching across the entire state of Leonida, the young criminal couple find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."

Zelnick previously confirmed that GTA 6 Trailer 3 would not drop until after pre-orders go live, making June 25 a possible date for that as well, though nothing is official. The release date has slipped twice, from a "late 2025" target to May 26, 2026, and then to November 19, 2026. All indicators currently point to that date holding.
