The Special Task Force (STF) of Gurugram Police has dealt a significant blow to the drug trade in the region by seizing heroin worth an estimated Rs 36 crore in the international market. The operation, conducted near the Dwarka Expressway, led to the arrest of one alleged drug peddler.
Details of the Seizure
According to officials, the STF team acted on a tip-off and intercepted a vehicle near the expressway. During the search, they recovered approximately 5 kilograms of heroin concealed in a secret compartment. The contraband is believed to have been sourced from across the border and was intended for distribution in the national capital region.
Arrest and Investigation
The accused, identified as a resident of a nearby district, has been taken into custody. He is being interrogated to uncover the larger network involved in the supply chain. Preliminary investigations suggest links to international drug syndicates.
The STF has registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and is probing the source of the drugs as well as the intended recipients. Further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.
Previous Operations
This is not the first major drug bust by the Gurugram STF. In recent months, the task force has intensified its crackdown on narcotics, leading to multiple seizures and arrests. The latest operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement to curb the drug menace in the region.
Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking to the police helpline.
